Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams this year. Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions this season due to a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days. Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health ahead of launching her preparations for 2026. These plans will include trainer Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season. She had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day. Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one. Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set against Zhu because of the lower back problem that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025. Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally for the first time in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats. Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event. She secured 28 victories during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March. Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula. Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open. The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled in the coming months. Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps. She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August. The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
