Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
The win also means he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.
His counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to create a decider.
Moutet defended four early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
