Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
