Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miamiâs iconic Little Havana neighborhood. âThe swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,â Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office. âExcept perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,â the mayor added. âI hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.â This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House. The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming âsix sevenâ â inspired by a rap song lyric â often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named â6-7â its annual vocabulary selection. A Peaceful Retirement The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary âfar from charcoal and roasting pansâ, according to the ceremony's official statement. âThe annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,â said the event host, in a notably cheerful message. âIt embodies the character of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.â Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they celebrated Six Sevenâs big moment.
