Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
